Top Cues: Michael Giacchino

Jump to review

Michael Giacchino is an American film composer that is capable of evoking huge emotions with even the simplest piano chords. Three decades into his career, Giacchino has created memorable scores across various genres, from animated films, videogames, tv series to blockbuster action films.

A unique trait of the composer is his clever use of puns in his score titles. Titles like “Live and Let Jedi” and “Here Today, Gone To Maui” are the best example.

Here are the cues that I believe best represent Michael Giacchino’s career. These selections either elevate specific scenes or capture the essence of a film or video game. Each cue is excellent on its own, but it’s also enjoyable to connect the music with its visual context. While I aimed to include only one cue per movie, there were instances where multiple cues from the same film were warranted.
